With heavy hearts, Charlotte Brady’s family and friends say goodbye after her hard-fought battle with cancer. With seemingly endless energy, Charlotte tackled each day head-on with a strong love for life and adventure. A friend to many, she maintained deep connections throughout her community and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
Charlotte was born Eleanor Charlotte Pool on July 15, 1954 in Starkville, Mississippi to Calvin and Frances Pool. She was the second of six children. Her father’s work in geology brought the family to Brazil for a year before moving to Texas, settling in Longview in 1959.
Always artistic, Charlotte studied art at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. She enjoyed making jewelry and stained glass, and dabbled in pottery. Later in life, she found joy in painting and quilting.
She moved to California in 1977, and spent the remainder of her life on the west coast. She had five daughters, and started a real estate appraisal company in the 1980s. In 2002, she married Randy Brady. They relocated from Soquel, California to Bend in 2005.
Once in Bend, her love for the outdoors blossomed. A fitness enthusiast, Charlotte delighted in pushing her body to its limits. She enjoyed hiking, running, cycling, kayaking, cross country skiing, weight lifting, aerial silk arts, and ballroom dancing. She participated in various marathons, half marathons, bike rides, mud runs, and dance competitions.
In her downtime, Charlotte loved helping others, whether that meant volunteering through her churches in Soquel and Bend, going to Mexico to support underprivileged people, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, or even to grab coffee with a friend who needed to talk. Her generous nature was evident to everyone that knew her.
